When life seems FUTILE, remember you are FERTILE

God, grant me the Serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the Courage to change the one I can, and the Wisdom to know it's me.

The next time you feel like GOD can't use you, just remember...
Noah was a drunk.
Abraham was too old.
Isaac was a daydreamer.
Jacob was a liar.
Leah was ugly.
Moses had a stuttering problem plus he was a murderer.
Gideon was cowardly.
Samson was a HE-man with a distinct SHE-weakness.
Rahab was a prostitute.
Samuel was a little kid.
Jeremiah was a complaining prophet.
David at one time was an adulterous murderer.
Elijah was depressed and suicidal.
Isaiah preached naked.
Jonah ran from God.
Naomi was a widow.
Job went bankrupt.
Amos was an illiterate.
John the Baptist ate bugs.
Peter denied Christ.
The Disciples fell asleep while praying.
Martha worried about everything.
The Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once.
Zaccheus was too small.
Lydia was a busy business lady.
Paul was a Jewish religious bigot.
Timothy had an ulcer...AND
LAZARUS WAS DEAD

No more excuses now. God can use you to your full potential.

The World's Better Place

The world's a better place because Michelangelo did not say,
"I don't do ceilings."
Sistine Chapel ceiling

The world's a better place because Martin Luther did not say'
"I don't do doors."
Martin Luther nails his theses to the church door.

The world's a better place because John Wesley didn't say,
"I don't do preaching in fields."

The world's a better place because Moses didn't say,
"I don't do Pharaohs or mass migrations."

The world's a better place because Rahab didn't say
"I don't do enemy spies."

The world's a better place because Ruth didn't say,
"I don't do mothers-in-law."

The world's a better place because Samuel didn't say,
"I don't do mornings."

The world's a better place because David didn't say,
"I don't do giants."

The world's a better place because Peter didn't say,
"I don't do Gentiles."

The world's a better place because John didn't say,
"I don't do deserts."

The world's a better place because Mary didn't say,
"I don't do virgin births."

The world's a better place because Paul didn't say,
"I don't do correspondence."

The world's a better place because Mary Magdalene didn't say,
"I don't do feet."

The world exists today as a better place because Noah obeyed
God instead of letting common sense and personal convenience
prompt him into saying, "I don't do arks and animals."

And there is salvation available for this world today  because Jesus didn't say,
"I don't do crosses."
And the world will be a better place only if you and I don't say, "
I don't do..."

The Chosen Vessel

The Master was searching for a vessel to use.
Before Him were many, Which one would He choose?

"Take me," cried the gold one, "I'm shiny and bright.
I am of great value and I do things just right.
My beauty and luster will outshine the rest,
And for someone like you, Master, gold would be best."
The Master passed on, with no word at all.

And looked at a silver urn, narrow and tall,
"I'll serve you dear Master, I'll pour out your wine.
I'll be on your table, whenever you dine.
My lines are so graceful, my carvings so true,
My silver will certainly compliment you."

Unheeding,He came to the vessel of brass,
Wide-mouthed and shallow and polished like glass.
"Here, here," cried the vessel, "I know I will do.
Place me on your table for all men to view."

The Master came next to the vessel of wood,
Polished and carved, it solidly stood.
"You may use me, dear Master," the wooden bowl said,
"But I'd rather you used me for fruit, not for bread."

Then the Master looked down on a vessel of clay,
Empty and broken, it helplessly lay.
No hope had the vessel that the Master might choose
to cleanse and make whole, to fill and to use.

"Oh, this is the vessel I've been hoping to find.
I'll mend it and use it and make it all mine.
I need not the vessel with the pride of itself,
Nor one that is narrow, to sit on the shelf.

Nor one that is big-mouthed and shallow and loud,
Nor one that displays its contents so proud."
Then gently He lifted the vessel of clay,
Mended and cleansed and filled it that day.

He spoke to it kindly, "There's work you must do.
Just pour out to others what I pour in you."

The Light Of The World

Once upon a time a little candle stood in a room filled with other candles, most of them much larger and much more beautiful than she was. Some were ornate and some were rather simple, like herself. Some were white, some were blue, some were pink, some were green. She had no idea why she was there, and the other candles made her feel rather small and insignificant.

When the sun went down and the room began to get dark, she noticed a large man walking toward her with a ball of fire on a stick. She suddenly realized that the man was going to set her on fire. "No, no!!" she cried, "Aaaaagghhh! Don't burn me, please!" But she knew that she could not be heard and prepared for the pain that would surely follow.

To her surprise, the room filled with light. She wondered where it came from since the man had extinguished his fire stick. To her delight, she realized that the light came from herself.

Then the man struck another fire stick and, one by one, lit the other candles in the room. Each one gave out the same light that she did.

During the next few hours, she noticed that, slowly, her wax began to flow. She became aware that she would soon die. With this realization came a sense of why she had been created. "Perhaps my purpose on earth is to give out light until I die," she mused. And that's exactly what she did.

God created you and I to produce light in a dark world. Like that little candle, we all can produce the same amount of light, no matter how small we are or what color we might be. But we can't produce light until we receive it from an outside source. That source is Jesus Christ, the light of the world.
